| Computers for Seniors |
BigScreenLive will run on Windows computers with the following requirements:
- Windows XP or Vista Operating System.
- Monitor which can display 1280 x 800 pixels. Ideally your monitor will display 1280 x 1024 pixels. Most monitors which are 17 inch or larger will display these resolutions.
- A high-speed internet connection.
We know that some of our customers are looking for a new computer for their senior. There are many choices, but one that we think is particularly suited to seniors is the Hewlett-Packard TouchSmart.
The TouchSmart is an ‘all in one’ computer which means it is a screen with the computer built into it. It also has a wireless keyboard and mouse. This means you don’t have so many cables and connections to make, but more importantly all the features are built in and integrated together so they work seamlessly. What makes the TouchSmart really different is that the screen is touch sensitive so many of things you’d normally do with the mouse you can do by just touching your finger on the screen. This is great for seniors who are not used to using a mouse. BigScreenLive’s software is designed to run well on a touch screen, so:
BigScreenLive + TouchSmart = Senior Computer
As an added bonus you can get the TouchSmart with a TV tuner built-in so if you are living in a smaller studio or apartment you can have your computer and TV all in one screen and save on space and clutter. You can also play DVDs on the TouchSmart using the built in DVD drive. We sell two versions of the TouchSmart - the IQ504 and the IQ506. They both have a 22-inch touch screen, but the IQ506 has a built in TV tuner so you can watch TV on it.
